All my hope on God is founded,
all my trust he shall renew;
he, my guide through changing order,
only good and only true:

calls my heart to be his own.
I chose this hymn to start our Lent journey as it reminds me that this is a good time to review the basis of our faith. Hymns are a good way of allowing truth to reach into our heart.
In Luke 4 v 1 we are told that just after Jesus’ baptism:
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.
Perhaps Jesus spent his time there renewing his trust in God his Father before he suffered his temptations and moved into his time of earthly ministry.
