Tonight we will celebrate the Eucharist and we will welcome the one who was born for us,
absolutely helpless and already so threatened …
We will all in our own lives, day after day, discover that to which Christ beckons us.
It’s to be born.
Our identities as men and women go from one birth to another.
From birth to birth.
We must each end up bringing to the world the child of God we are.
The incarnation for us is to allow the reality of Jesus, to embody itself in our humanity.
The mystery of the incarnation is what we are called to live.
In this way what we have already lived takes root.
And what we are called to live in the future is filled with possibility.
Christmas Eve sermon, Algeria – Br. Christian de Chergé
This is what it means to be born again,
This is the Middle Coming.
It is not so much the Holy Spirit empowering me, but me becoming Christ,
As Christ is born, incarnated in me.
Please Lord come and live in and though me.
