Self-control starts with giving God control

This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one

Jesus not only taught us to want God’s will
– he showed us by following God’s will to the end

Luke 22:39-42
Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
On reaching the place, he said to them, Pray that you will not fall into temptation
He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,
Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.
