Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus to carry his cross

 Mark 15:21 NLT
A passerby named Simon, who was from Cyrene, was coming in from the countryside just then,
and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross.
(Simon was the father of Alexander and Rufus.)

Jesus, God’s Son was needy.
It is ok to be needy.

God says to St Catherine of Siena
I could well have supplied each of you with all your needs, both material and spiritual.
But I wanted to make you dependent on one another so that each of you would be my minister,
dispensing the graces and gifts you received from me.

We may be compelled to carry the cross for someone else when we least expect it.
May it be for us too a moment of grace,
when we discover a new intimacy with the Lord, sharing his burden.

Colossians 1:24 NLT
I am glad when I suffer for you in my body,
for I am participating in the sufferings of Christ that continue for his body, the church.

Galatians 6:2 NIV
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfil the law of Christ.
