Jesus meets the Women of Jerusalem

Luke 23:27-31 NIV
A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.
Jesus turned and said to them,
Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.
For the time will come when you will say:
‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’
Then ‘they will say to the mountains, fall on us and to the hills, cover us.
For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?

Some of the women would have known Jesus, his mother might have been one of them,
but others would have been professional mourners.
Jesus meets us, and shares in, our joys and sorrows.

Romans 12:9-16 NIV
Love must be sincere.
Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in love.
Honour one another above yourselves.
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.
Live in harmony with one another.
Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
