Dear Friends
Wasn’t Brockival wonderful! It was so good to see the village come together to enjoy our
many different and interesting organisations; to see the parade; to take part in music and
dancing; to eat good food; and to mingle with visitors enjoying themselves.
A huge well done and thank you to the Parish Council for organising it and to the neighbours
for putting up with so many visitors – I do hope it happens again next year! It’s so good for
us to work together as a community!
A similar community event was Cynthia Wilson’s memorial service – St Saviour’s was
packed to celebrate the life of a woman her gave herself so wholeheartedly to so many
different aspects of the life of Brockenhurst, bringing great joy and energy to whatever she
seemed to be involved in.
Again, how good it was to see the community come together to celebrate that life!
I’m not surprised that such coming together brings joy and life and energy – it’s what we
were made for. The bible tells us that we are made in the image of a God who is community
(Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and therefore when we are most being a community – working
together for the good of one another – we are most what we were made to be. No wonder
then we find it joyful, exciting, rewarding – I just hope that we can find ways of doing more of
it!
