A benediction for those who are waiting
For all those with weak knees, feeble hands, fading faith –
may you know Christ’s hands holding your own
Through the hands of another human.
May their strength give you strength;
May their faith give you faith,
So you can walk another day with Christ at your side.
Be strong; do not fear; your God will come.
When all around you is wasteland,
and your spirit is cracked and dry,
May you be flooded with God’s Spirit,
Slaking your thirst for true life.
Be strong; do not fear; your God will come.
When you look out and see a lonely path ahead,
May you have eyes to see the company of saints, past and present;
And may you know the Spirit of God
Beside you, before you; in you, around you.
Be strong; do not fear; your God will come.
When you are weary of life;
May God give you grace upon grace
To rejoice, blossom, burst into bloom.
As unexpectedly as Christ arrived,
May your life and heart be transformed.
Be strong; do not fear; your God will come.
Amen
