CHRISTMAS GIVING
Very many thanks to all who gave so generously at our Christmas services. From the collections we have been able to send £889.20 to each of the charities we supported, Honeypot, Christians Against Poverty, and the work of the church. We also sent £177.10 to The Children’s Society from donations given at the Christingle service.
WEDNESDAY LUNCHES
In January, we celebrated the 38th anniversary of Wednesday Lunches. During this period we have served 45,094 meals! In 1988, when the lunches began, we served 552 meals, feeding around 15 guests each week, and the cost was £2.25. We now serve between 30-40 guests each week, and we manage to keep the cost at £5. It is only through the dedicated help of our many volunteer cooks and drivers that we have achieved this length of service, and we are extremely grateful to each and every one of them.
GiftSwap4Coffee morning
Thank you to everyone who supported last month’s GiftSwap4Coffee morning – the Church Hall was buzzing with lively chatter and laughter. We were blessed with lovely bright, but cold weather and lots of donations were received for the four charities we were supporting, Basics Bank, Tools for Self Reliance, New Forest Ukraine and the Women’s Refuge. The sales tables of new/nearly new books and gifts, and the ‘posh food’ hamper raffle raised £140.50 for Mothers’ Union projects, so a very successful morning all round. This is the Mothers’ Union working to support the community.
